Institution celebrates National and International commemorative days , events and festivals to sensitize students on the importance of these days .

National Days

  1. Independence Day :15 August celebrated with competitions and flag hoisting
  2. Republic Day marks the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26, January 1950.
  3. Kannada Rajyotsava Day also known as Karnataka Formation Day or Karnataka Day, is celebrated in the month of November of every year. This was the day in 1956 when all the Kannada language-speaking regions of south western India were merged to form the state of Karnataka.
  4. Ambedkar day or Bhim Jayanti is an annual festival observed on 14 April to commemorate the memory of B. R. Ambedkar.
  5. Rabindranath Tagore’s birth anniversary on the 25th day of the Bengali month of Boishakh, or Pochishe Boishakh.
  6. Vivekananda day: 12 January is celebrated as National Youth Day every year.
  7. Gandhi jayanthi is an event celebrated in India to mark the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. It is celebrated annually on 2 October.
  8. Pulwama attack on 14 February 2019, when a convoy of vehicles carrying Indian security personnel on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway was attacked by a vehicle-borne suicide bomber. Students gather to pay homage to the slain soldiers.
  9. Teachers day is a special day for the appreciation of teachers, and may include celebrations to honor them for their special contributions and remember Dr S Radhakrishnan. The management appreciates the teachers with a surprise gift and students with a celebration.
  10. Communal harmony week To mark the occasion of National integration for communal Harmony week from November 19-25, 2020, an awareness session was organised about the National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH), an autonomous organization with ministry of home affairs, Government of India.

International days:

  1. The International Day of Yogahas been celebrated annually on 21 June since 2015, following its inception in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014
  2. World environment day is celebrated annually on 5 June and is the United Nations’ principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the environment.
  3. Mother’s day: Celebrated around the world as a day to honour mothers, and motherly bonds within the family
  4. The Divyangan Cell celebrated International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 04, 2020, with the theme of “Building Back Better: Toward a disability inclusive, accessible and sustainable world, post- Covid-19”.
  5. International girl child 2020 ‘She Cell’ of the college, to commemorate International girl child day 2020, facilitated 5 toppers of SSLC for their achievement. Every year girl students are given free application forms for the next year on March 5th-10th as encouragement for girl students to continue their education.

Two-Day National Webinar on "Impact of Artificial Intelligence on life of common man", April 8-9, 2021

SRN Adarsh College organized a Two-Day National Webinar on ‘Impact of Artificial Intelligence on life of common man’ on 8th and 9th of April 2021 sponsored by KSTA.

The speakers for the second day were experts from the field of technology who with their immense understanding of AI shared their insights into future of life with AI. They emphasized that Business & Marketing, Governance everything will largely depend on AI for efficiency and accuracy in quality service.

Second day of the Webinar started with Sri. Raju Bannur, former Vice President, Infosys, Europe on Artificial Intelligence in Business and Marketing. He explained to the participants what exactly Artificial Intelligence is with various examples from day to day life.

 

 In his speech he captured the various aspects of Artificial Intelligence in most of the areas of operations, Marketing field, Demand Forecasting, Research & Development, Production, Sales & Dispatch, Customer Service, Industries and related concepts. Indeed it was a fruitful and thought provoking session of the day.

In his key note address Dr. Arvind Srinivas, Tata Consultancy Services (ion) presented the paper on Artificial Intelligence in Governance and gave deep insight on how exactly the Artificial Intelligence is used in the Governance of the country. He started his presentation with a touch of humor quoting “Artificial Intelligence is no substitute for Natural Stupidity”. He further explained how this is used in various Government schemes like National Government Service Portal, Adult Literacy, Natural Language processing, Health Care, Electricity, Water & Local Services, Justice Law & Grievances, Travel & Tourism, Citizen services and its diversify nature.

Dr. Harish Naik T, Associate Professor, Presidency College presented the paper on Recent Trends and Innovations in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. He gave microscopic insight on recent trends and innovations in Artificial Intelligence, Machine learning, types and techniques and further added how Artificial Intelligence is transforming the Agricultural Industry and related subsidiary industries. He emphasized on why Machine learning, Types of Machine learning, Machine learning in daily life, Machine learning Prerequisites, Data science, Jobs and Technical skills are essential in change driven society.

The sessions were undoubtedly mind boggling wherein all the resourceful persons enhanced the knowledge about Artificial Intelligence and ignited the interest among the participants.

The event came to a fruitful completion with the vote of thanks by MR. Poorna Prazana, Asst. Professor, SRN Adarsh College. In his vote of thanks he extended his gratitude and appreciated the efforts and cooperation given by KSTA to organize the event. Also, he extended his gratitude towards the management, Principal & Staff members for the support they rendered for the event.

UG - Graduation day, February 06, 2021

“The future belongs to those who believe in achieving the beauty of their dreams!”

SRN Adarsh College celebrated its Graduation Day ceremony for the Undergraduate students of 2017-20 batch on February 06, 2021 in the college campus at 10.30am. A total of 110 graduates attended the ceremony to celebrate their success and walked the academic march in which the chief guest for the event Ms. Divya Chandradhara an Alumni, SRN Adarsh College, CEO, BioAgile Therapeutics Pvt Ltd, MD, Eirs Research Labs Pvt Ltd, President-AGI, Mr.K K Bansali, Mr. Mahesh Nahar, Joint Secretary-AGI, Dr. Sharma, Academic Co-ordinator-AMIT, Dr. Nagesha N S, Principal-SRN PU College and Principal Dr. Sakuntala Samuelson were ushered to the venue of the program. 

After the customary Chanting of Navkar Mantra and lighting of the lamp, the dignitaries adorned the dais. Prof. Rathod, HOD-BCA cordially welcomed the gathering and extended his warm wishes. The Principal introduced the chief guest to the gathering highlighting all her achievements.

 

The chief guest in her address expressed her gratitude to the institution and all the faculty members for their guidance and encouraged the young graduands to dream big and work hard to achieve their dreams.

Dr. Nagesh N S administered the “Graduation Pledge” and in his address he pointed out that time is very precious and to make use of the time positively.

The toppers of each department received the appreciation certificates from the Chief Guest and all the students were presented with a memento.

In his Presidential address Mr. K K Bhansali said that with the graduation cap comes responsibilities too. The students should be perfect citizens for which each student should cultivate pure and good habits.

Dr. Sharma congratulated all the graduates and wished them all the best.

Mr. Kiran G, Assistant Professor, department of BCom proposed the vote of thanks. The event concluded with a photo session followed by brunch arranged for all present in the program.

Graduation Day for M Com students, January 29, 2021

SRN Adarsh College celebrated Graduation Day for M Com students on 29th January 2021. The chief guest for the occasion was Amrutha Yadav N, who is Alumni of SRN Adarsh College, a model, Cine star and television anchor and actor. She inspired students with her inspirational speech where she highlighted about focus, concentration, confidence and dedication. Students were overwhelmed and inspired by her speech. President Sri K K Bhansali addressed the gathering and emphasized on starting anything in a small and scale and work on it so that it will grow gradually on its own. He said nothing is small or big in life. Principal Dr.Sakuntala Samuleson addressed the students and adviced them on their future plans. She concluded with Robert Frost’s quote – ‘the woods are lovely dark and deep’ and explained its meaning. She also mentioned these were the lines that Jawaharlal Nehru read in his last days.

Guest Lecture on "Project Dissertation: Preparation and Presentation", January 09, 2021

SRN Adarsh PG Department of Commerce organized a guest Lecture on “Project Dissertation: Preparation and Presentation” on January 09, 2021. The resource person for the occasion was Dr. Sudha B S, Co-ordinator, MCom, APS College of Commerce. In her address, Dr. Sudha B S explained with the Power point presentation in an elaborate manner an overview of the project dissertation. In an organized way she guided the students about the methodology. The program concluded with a question and answer session.

The second part of the program was the interactive session on placement and internship. The resource person was the Alumni of SRN Adarsh College, Mr. Kishore B S. His team Mr. Sandeep and Mr. Yunus educated the final year students of the training skills required for placement and internships. He gave important tips how to apply for internships and jobs in various companies. Overall both the program were very educative for the students.

Human Rights day, December 18, 2020

The human rights day is celebrated all over the world on December 10 and in India on December 18. To mark the occasion the human rights protection cell organized a webinar titled “Minorities Rights day 2020”. The chief guest for the occasion was Sri. Adil Pasha, founder and chairman, AIHRF and Dr. Shakila Banu N, Principal, Maldand English School. A video was played to bring about the awareness about minorities and their rights in India. HOD of BCom and BBA Ms. Veena Savekar gave a brief insight about minority day in India.

Sri. Adil Pasha mentioned the facilities available for the minorities in India. In her impressive talk Dr. Shakila Banu, extended her warm wishes to all the students. She explained that how every country has minority groups and how the government provides various schemes for them.

A number of 100 students participated in the program from all streams of the college. Overall it was a very awareness creating program.

On this special occasion a quiz was released online and many students participated in it with enthusiasm. E-Certificate was issued for all the quiz participants.

Noiseless Deepavali a trend to follow, November 11, 2020

Diwali, the festival of lights symbolizes the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.

While this festival is celebrated with lights and color, Deepavali is also sadly associated with fire crackers and ear splitting sound which contribute to the noise and air pollution. As the whole world is in the midst of the pandemic, The Divyangan Cell and the Human rights protection cell of SRN Adarsh College organized an awareness program on “Noiseless Deepavali” on November 11, 2020.

The program was graced by the chief guest Mr. Rajeev Chandrashekar, a social activist and Alumni of Adarsh group of Institutions and Dr. Saskuntala Samuelson, Principal SRN Adarsh College. 

The formal program started with the lighting of the lamp after which the principal welcomed the gathering and extended her warm greetings.

A video was presented which was made by the hearing impaired students and posters by the students which spread awareness about noiseless Deepavali.

The chief guest was full of appreciation for the college’s initiative of noiseless deepavali.

The program concluded with distribution of appreciation certificates for all the deserving students and all the hearing impaired students

Communal harmony week, November 05, 2020

To commemorate the Communal harmony week, on November 05, 2020 SRN Adarsh College organized a one day event for all the hearing impaired students.

The expert committee from the Cheshire home, Bangalore assessed the students and conducted a vocational education training and skill development program session.

An in house carom board completion was organized and all the hearing impaired students participated with great enthusiasm and won certificates.

Sanskrit International Webinar, October 15, 2020

The department of Sanskrit celebration “Sanskrit Day 2020” with much passion and zeal on October 15, 2020. Keeping in mind the pandemic situation the program was organized online. The key speaker for the event was Dr. Jonathan Duquette, Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, sessional instructor in Sanskrit. Cambridge University, London.

The theme of the webinar was “The universality of Sanskrit: A quest for precision, clarity and beauty”.

Dr. Jonathan Duquette recited many sutras while explaining about the universality of Sanskrit. He also quoted many verses in-depth with Slokas. He expressed that Sanskrit is a systematic language. More than 500 participants had registered from countries like Egypt, Australia, Saudi-Arebia and many from USA. The session concluded with question and answer session. Participation certificates were issues online for participants.

Dr. Prof. Veeranarayana N K Pandurangi, Vice Chancellor, Karnataka Sanskrit University, Bengaluru, Mr. K K Bansali, President, AGI, Mr. Jitendra Mardia, Secretary, AGI and Principal Dr. Sankuntala Samuelson graced the program online.

To commemorate the occasion an inter-collegiate online quiz was organized by the department for which more than 600 students participated and online certificates were issues for them.

International girl child day 2020, October 10, 2020

Girls have the potential to become IAS officers expressed Mr. K K Bansali, President of AGI, on the occasion of International girl child day 2020 which was observed by SRN Adarsh College on October 10, 2020.

She Cell of the college, to commemorate International girl child day 2020, facilitated 5 toppers of SSLC for their achievement.

In her welcome speech the Principal, Dr. Sahakuntala Samuelson appreciated the hard work of the parents and wished all the achievers all the very best for their future.

Hemalatha a final year student of BCom, read out the significance of the day said that, this day is celebrated to create awareness about the gender equality in society.

The six students who were felicitated were:

2. Bhavana Kaushik, Vijaya High School, Jayanagar(99.14%)
3. Malavika , MES High School, Janyanagar (98.08%)

6. Bhuvanashree, Shri Vinayaka High School, Byatarayanapura(97.6%)

Mr. Jitendra Mardia, Secretary of AGI in his speech said that girl children of the family are very sensitive to the needs of the family.

The theme for the day was Pink. All the faculty and staff members wore pink in support of the day.

All the 5 girls thanked their parents and teachers and expressed their ambitions of achieving professional careers such as being; doctors, engineers or lawyers and that, education was the key to achieving these ambitions.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Vanishree Bhat.

151st birth anniversary of Gandhiji- 30th September, 2020

SRN Adarsh College, department of English celebrated the 151st birth anniversary of Gandhiji on September 30, 2020. The theme for the event was ‘Rehabilitation of persons with disability in Independent India’

The president Mr. K K Bansali, AGI, Secretary Mr. Jitendra Mardia, AGI, principal, SRN Adarsh Degree College, hearing impaired students and the faculty members were part of the program. The program started by chanting the Navkar Mantra by Ms. Bhavya Sudeendra, Assistant professor, Department of Commerce and Samruddi student of BCA final year followed by  singing the favorite bhajan of Gandhiji ‘Vaishnavo Janato….

Principal Dr. Shakuntala Samuelson formally welcomed the gathering and explained the significance of the day.

In his speech President AGI, said Nonviolence is a powerful tool which should be used in a dignified manner to gain success like Mahatma Gandhi.  

Keeping in mind the theme, biographies of few achievers who are persons with disability in India was displayed and read out.

The key speaker of the day Mr. Basavaraj Umrani, brand ambassador of AGI, a visually-challenged but exceedingly sharp young man who is rightfully been called ‘The Walking Computer’ in his speech stressed that people with disability does not need sympathy but opportunities.

To commemorate this occasion the department of English had organized an inter-collegiate essay writing competition on the theme ‘Rehabilitation of persons with disability in Independent India’. Certificate and prizes for the ten best essays were distributed.

On September 25, 2020 teachers from different colleges were visited and honored with certificates for their exceptional commitment and dedicated service during the pandemic as an academician and teacher. 

Two hearing impaired outgoing students expressed their gratitude for the college in their sign language which was interpreted by Ms.Sridevi to the audience.

The program concluded with National Anthem followed by tea.
